Gabrielle Union's Fight for Inclusivity is What We Need Right Now

by Dawn Myers on August 27, 2020
After leaving America's Got Talent, Gabrielle Union takes a more outspoken approach in working towards a more inclusive Hollywood and reality. In a recent interview with Variety, Union talks toxicity in the workplace, self-acceptance, compassion for others, and reflects on being a Black woman in Hollywood. She shares the difficulties in wearing her natural hair, the lack of cultural understanding and resources in the industry, and her commitment to changing the dynamic.

“My goal is real change. It starts from the top down.” she says. “My goal is to create the happiest, most high-functioning, inclusive, protected and healthy example.”

She proudly no longer seeks approval from a business that is increasingly being called out for marginalizing women and minorities. Instead she focuses on projects that bring peace, joy, grace and allow for compassion and change.

Bring on the fight (and those curls too)!
